Races - Vortian
The history of the Vortian race is rather short, yet turbulent. Born on the lush vegetative planet of Voltar the Vortians are actually a plant based life form.

When exactly they first started as a species is a bit of a mystery (more so than for most evolutionary species). The pre-Vortians were simply crawling, walking plants. Quickly though they
developed intelligence, and quite a bit of it. They formed complex societies based on intelligence and understanding. While technological advancements came easy to them, they were not a very
social or tolerant race. Intelligence became the predominant factor in social standing, and all Vortian seedlings had their professions chosen for them since the moment of pollination. Vast
arguments often arose between nations. War (and indeed killing) was foreign to them, therefore these arguments became battles of attrition, lasting centuries until one side simply no longer saw
fit to argue the point. These stalemates often caused decades of stagnation in their otherwise meteoric and stellar advancements in science and technology.
Their first contact with an alien race was, unfortunately, the Karpians. Un-suitable for slave labor, the Karpians hunted the Vortians for sport, a concept Vortians have yet to comprehend.
Their non-violent nature seemed only to encourage Karpian attacks. For this reason Vortians developed powerful cloaks and shielding capabilities, and tend to flee in the face of Karpian fleets.
Andromeda, a planet rich in Talavari crystals, would provide an excellent source of power for shields, and a good base for defense of their own home space. For that reason, Karpians or not,
they must take the planet.
